The Young Years

During her first year, Hasu was small, fuzzy, and cute. After that, she grew in both size and attitude, though that's for another time. As a pup, she couldn't get up on the couch, which was pretty funny. But once she could, she would climb onto the window sill! She would bark at various things, such as a very startled deer. When she was small, her favorite hiding place was under the china hutch, until she grew too big (now she hides under the dinner table, which has the benefit of eating scraps we drop). In addition, and much to our amusement, she couldn't get up the stairs. Later, she got big enough to climb the stairs.   However, she must've thought that wasn't much different from being outside, so she went to the bathroom up there! (luckily it wasn't number two, but still a big no-no.) So after that, dad got a gate so she couldn't get up there. Unfortunately, she grew out of her fuzzy stage. Looking forward, we have challenging times ahead that may result in anyone thinking twice before getting a Shiba...

A New Addition to the Family

(This is Hasu before we picked her up)

In August 2014, my family and I went to pick up our Shiba: a Japanese breed of dog. We picked out a name for her beforehand, and decided on Hasu. Hasu means "lotus" in Japanese. We paid the breeder, and she gave us a towel for Hasu with her sister's scent on it. When we were driving home, she rode on Mom's lap until we stopped for gas. We had her go to the bathroom, then she rode on my lap the rest of the way home. When we got home, we let her off the leash into the backyard. We watched her for a while, then went inside with her. So that's how it all got started. As she got older, things will get a little more interesting...

Hasu's huff  sounds so much cuter as a pup. :-)
